There was a man among
us who shaped his time, a giant who will forever hold us in thrall.
He was born on an island, Corsica, and died well before his time,
slowly poisoned on another island, St. Helena. Madame Mère,
the Legend of Napoleon is a musical which depicts his life, from
his birth to his death. Madame Mère was his mother and through
her eyes we see the story unfold. The creator of this work was
inspired by Dr. Ben Weider's book The Murder of Napoleon.
The
creative team for Madame Mère is David Chimay, the
author of the concept, the libretto, and the lyrics. Richard
Fortin is the composer and arranger of the music. Dr.
Edward Roberts is a co-producer and holds two doctorates, one
in science and one in law and is a lifelong student of theatre
and the arts. The other co-producer is Jeffrey
Nelson who also is the production designer.
We need your support today to bring this great story of Napoleon
to the public. We need investors and also contributors. Investors
will own an interest in the ultimate success of the play, which
we hope and intend to bring to the stage throughout the English
and French speaking worlds. Contributors of smaller amounts at
this particularly crucial time in our production will make it possible
for us to present a workshop production of Madame Mère to
potential backers.
